In the wake of the 2011 tsunami and Fukushima disaster, Buddhist teacher Michael Stone visited Japan on a “pilgrimage of inquiry.” He was accompanied by filmmaker Ian MacKenzie. The short film Reactor is an account of that trip.
The film looks at Buddhism’s Bodhisattva Vow, and explores, “how and why we can let go of old stories, and move towards personal and social awakening by bringing to light our interconnectedness and showing us that our actions matter.”
After suddenly being hospitalized in a coma on Thursday, July 13th, 2017, it was announced on the following Monday that Stone had passed away. (Read about his life and work here.) Reached for comment by Lion’s Roar, MacKenzie offered, “I deeply treasure my time with Michael in Japan. He was a man of deep compassion and love of all life. I considered him a friend and older brother.”
