From the Guna Foundation comes The Great Transmission, a new documentary film that “explores the remarkable journeys Buddhist knowledge has made in the course of its 2,500-year lifespan” — and asks about its future. Looking specifically at the Buddhism of Tibet, the film ponders how that tradition might be maintained, and not compromised, in a world where fewer people are intimate with the Tibetan language. Watch the trailer below to get a taste of the film. It looks to be as beautifully shot as it is important.
The Guna Foundation’s mission is “to document the vision, accomplishments and impact of working to preserve the endangered Tibetan culture.” More of its work can be seen on the TGF website.
