The Thich Nhat Hanh Foundation is collecting video submissions honoring Thich Nhat Hanh for his upcoming 90th birthday on October 11.
The foundation asks that followers create a video describing how they choose to continue the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh, the Vietnamese Buddhist monk, author, and activist, affectionately referred to as “Thay” by his students. Videos will be uploaded to the foundation’s YouTube channel to be shared with him and the greater Sangha.
The foundation made a call-to-action on their Facebook page for video submissions:
Participants are asked to complete the sentence “I continue Thay by…,” inspired by Thich Nhat Hanh’s own definition of “continuation” in his book, No Death, No Fear:
“Our children are our continuation. We are our children and our children are us. If you have one or more children, you have already been reborn in them. You can see your continuation body in your son or your daughter, but you have many more continuation bodies as well. They are in everyone you have touched. And you cannot know how many people your words, actions, and thoughts have touched.”
Submissions will be accepted until October 8. A full list of submission guidelines can be found on thichnhathanhfoundation.org
