Kasur Alak Jigme Thinley Phuntsok, who previously served as a kalon and speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, passed away yesterday at age 72. At age 7, he was identified as the reincarnation of Jigme Tulku of Rebkong Ringpo monastery. Through the years, Phuntsok served in a variety of administrative roles within the exiled government; in addition to kalon and speaker, he was also the auditor general and chairman of the Public Service Commission.
