A news update that will surely come as a relief to our readers: It is being reported by The Associated Press this morning that Indian authorities have now cleared His Holiness the Karmapa in charges related to the $1.35 million in cash that was discovered last month in a raid of his Dharamsala home, Gyuto Tantric Monastic University.
Quoting the Press Trust of India, the AP shares that “The Himachal Pradesh state government has concluded that the money found during a police raid on the Karmapa’s monastery had been donated by his followers.”
Economic Times quotes a government spokesperson as saying “There is no involvement of the Karmapa (in any financial irregularities).”
