The Associated Press has reported that China is banning foreign tourists from entering Tibet until April 1. The ban reportedly started earlier in February.
The ban coincides with multiple politically significant dates in Tibet. Sixty years ago next month, on March 10, 1959, Tibetans staged an uprising against Chinese rule. On March 14 in 2008, anti-government riots took place.
According to AP, the ban includes foreign tourists, journalists, and diplomats.
