Madison.com reports that former Madison police captain Cheri Maples — a Buddhist who wrote “A Buddhist Cop’s Approach to Justice” for Lion’s Roar, was seriously injured when a van struck her bicycle on Thursday. She underwent spinal surgery on Friday and seems to be recovering. Via Madison.com:
Prayers and well wishes from near and far are coming by the dozens on CaringBridge, a website where loved ones can provide updates on someone’s medical condition.
On Saturday, Maureen Brady, who founded the Madison-based non-profit Center for Mindfulness & Justice with Maples, wrote on CaringBridge that all was calm in Maples’ intensive care room that afternoon with a Buddhist chant playing in the background.
We at Lion’s Roar offer Cheri best wishes for her continued recovery. You can do the same at her CaringBridge page.
