Walk With Me, the new documentary about Thich Nhat Hanh, narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch, will have a rather hip premiere, launching at South by Southwest (SXSW) in March. As previously reported hee, Walk With Me pairs shots of monastic life with Cumberbatch’s readings from Thich Nhat Hanh’s journals.
Said the filmmakers, Marc J. Francis and Max Pugh, “We have worked to create an immersive film to plunge the audience deep into the poetry of the present moment.”
Watch behind-the-scenes footage from the documentary to see how the filmmakers use audio to create a sense of immersion.
As the Thich Nhat Hanh Foundation notes in a post about the screening, SXSW is one of the most influential film festivals in the industry. One hundred and twenty five films will be shown at the festival, placing Thich Nhat Hanh (at least in a sense) in the company of Armistead Maupin, the Muppets, and Bill Nye, all of whom feature in documentaries this year.
